I visited Nanotechnology Island
I visited Nanotechnology Island the other day. Nanotechnology Island is a virtual sim in Second Life that focuses on technology community and nano science. The purpose of Nanotechnology Island is to bring together engineers, scientists, and policy makers for debate on nano technology (any item that is a billionth of a meter). Now this is not tiny robots that eat you (as seen in Stargate etc) no nanotechnology can be used to make new fabrics, new plastics, crystals, etc. The Nanotechnology Island provides free space to showcase displays and exhibits on nanotechnology. There were some neat nano labs setup with physics and chemistry equipment as well as some great interactive displays. This would make a great virtual field trip for any student classroom.
