I set out to make a 30 minute machinima movie
I set out to make a 30 minute machinima movie in Second Life but quickly ran into problems. One of the problems I experienced when try to make a 30 minute machinima movie in Second Life was the frustrating difficulty of getting the correct camera angle. Another one of the problems I experienced when try to make a 30 minute machinima movie in Second Life without the sim dragging down producing low quality shots or getting my machinima movie filming interrupted by passers by (since I was not filming in a private or restricted Second Life sim or island). Continued soon…..

A 30-minute film is quite a hefty undertaking - apart from the difficulty of having enough material to fill that amount of time, there’s a lot of work to get all your cast in the right place at the right time, doing the right things, and not getting bored and wandering off. It always takes way longer to shoot than you expect - even if you allow for the fact that it always takes longer than you expect. And just as you get set up for the shot, someone decides that they have to go and get dinner, or take a phone call, or their Net connection drops, or something equally trivial and annoying. Good luck!
