This is a well balanced and thought out set of points to demonstrate why the established is better than the young pretender to the throne.

Personally, being a female PS3 owner, I’m STILL way more interested in SL than I am in Home, purely because I’m well established in SL and really don’t want to jump out to start an account on Home, especially when it doesn’t have a fraction of the interesting stuff that SL has to offer.

Sony will probably never allow user created content, because once non-trusted 3rd parties get involved, they’ll lose their manipulative stranglehold that they like to have with everything they get involved with…

Home will merely remain a 3D chatroom where corporations try and make a little more money, whereas SL will carry on being the premier virtual universe where anyone and everyone have a shot at being who and what they want to be…

SL might be flawed and is far from perfect, but it’s the leader of the pack for immersible virtual realities…

Very good list and very informative…

I don’t have “Home” but got some experience with SL. After reading your list i know for sure that Second Life must be ways better than PS3 Home.

Most important things for me are:

Point 1) Not enough women. I even hate computer games with no female characters on board. Without the ladies life is not worth living.

Point 3) Teen and Adult separation. That’s true! I don’t want to talk to teens all the time. I’m an adult man and don’t feel the need to step on the next schoolyard and chat with the kids there.

Point 6) No user generated content. Games and virtual worlds without the ability to add stuff are somewhat uninteresting!

Thanks for the post, it helped me to get a better view on PS3 Home
