Virtual Education University of Texas 3D Learning System in Second Life

The University of Texas is launching a virtual system in Second Life across their 16 different campuses in order to promote virtual education, reduce costs of instruction, collaboration, and utilize developer tools. This was made possible by a recent grant.
The virutal education sims of University of Texas will occupy over fifty regions including 9 campuses and 6 science and medical research campuses. The University is looking for new ways to learn and wants to explore the cost effectiveness of virtual learning.
The Virtual Learning Community Initiative has been formed.
