Linden Lab Changes Their Mind Over OpenSpaces Protests - Creates new Homesteads Product and Enforces Limits on OpenSpaces
Today M Linden released a letter regarding OpenSpaces. M Linden boo hoos the burdens of cpu usage and complains about Second Life residents being creative and making impressive builds.
Linden Lab has decided to change their plan over OpenSpaces Protests and create a new Homesteads Product.
Here are the important points:
1. OpenSpaces will not change in price
2. The purpose of OpenSpaces will be enforced for forest, water, and light use.
3. Linden Lab will restrict use with avatar and prim limits as well as event, classified, and scripting limits.
4. You must contact the concierge team to continue using OpenSpaces at the original price
5. A new product called Homesteads will be created which is just a small step up for more money but still with limits
6. Non-compliant Openspaces will be converted on January, 5, 2009 and charged more money.
7. Educational discounts of 30% will be available for Homesteads
