No More Brands on XStreet SL after September 14 Says Linden Lab
Linden Lab has changed their policies and will no longer allow virtual items that carry a brand name to be sold on the XStreet SL marketplace. Liinden Lab purchased XStreet SL in January of this year. Below is the definition of a branded item that cannot be used.
You cannot list an item in XStreet SL if:
1. I has a brand name or logo
2. It is a close imitation
3. It imitates a famous person
4. Imitates a fictional character from a copyrighted work
5. Uses an artistic work that is copyrighted
No More Darth Vader, Star Trek or other Roleplaying?
The individuals who will be most upset by this will be those engaged in active role playing in Second Life such as Star Wars or Star Trek.
Of course it just means that these roleplayers will have to buy their avatars and virtual items somewhere else that is less convenient and does not effect the liability of Linden Lab.
