Second Life is preparing for a move the the Open Sim. Executives have decided that is the way to achieve stability. Vice President Joe Miller said this is a way to compete with new competitors. Linden Labs will provide services to these new open sims most likely through transaction processing, security, trading, search, or processing. Of course Linden Labs has their technology tightly under wraps and may be able to collect licensing fees and the like. This should be pretty interesting.
