OpenSim and OpenLifeGrid: Alternative Built On Second Life Technology
There is increasing interest in OpenSim and OpenLifeGrid. OpenSim was created with C# and Microsoft .NET. OpenSim operates on the Central Grid under a fast growning world based on Second Life but free of the rules of Linden Labs. Banks and Financial organizations as well as Casinos that have been run out of Second Life are seeking shelter in OpenSim. New currencies can even be created in OpenSim other than the Linden Dollar.
Many of the unlicensed stock exchanges are also heading into the OpenSim. The OpenLifeGrid is composed of one hundred and thirty five sims. Central Grid has reached three hundred and twenty regions. Linden Labs is eventually hoping to link Second Life Grid and the other OpenSim Grids. Basically anyone can run OpenSim on their own servers and create their own vitual world and own virtual world rules. At least for now the main OpenSim grids are Openlife Grid, Central Grid, DeepGrid & OSGrid.
