Will Europe Leave the Virtual World?
I reported earlier that the charging of VAT to Second Life avatars residing in Europe has resulted in an outpouring of anger and resentment. Linden Labs has been smashed with angry questions form European Second Life residents but the overall message is that European Second Life avatars will continue to play Second Life. I for one do not believe this report. If it is true then the European Second Life players will only stick around until the free Google My World lauches or other free providers that do not charge the (Value Added Tax) VAT. I look forward to seeing the overall European percentages a few months after the VAT compared to the last few months. I expect to see a shartp drop. People want to make money for free. Europe is screwed.
