I can build it for you out of popsicle sticks for $500 and 1 month

CNN recently posted an article about Second Life highlighting the touchy topic of Second Life and the flexibility of the simulation tools available to Second Life users. I disagree with many of the major points in the article however I do agree with the statement That Second Life creates the ability for individuals to lead two different distinct lives (Grin: Second Life….). Everyone continues to talk about the flexibility and potential of the second life building tools but really any graphic designer or 3d modeler only laughs at this point. All the professional graphics are created at a much higher quality and level of detail than the simple shapes and images thrown together in Second Life. One specific point was that a MIT researcher created three simulations in three days for $350 instead of 6 months and $60,000. But really were they crappy? Yes. Was the simulation high enough quality to be viewed on a high definition TV? No. Was the level of professionalism and organization and statistical accuracy there? No. You want a building in New York? You can pay an architect $30 million and take 10 years or I can build it for you out of popsicle sticks for $500 and 1 month.
