Second Life Update

Linden Labs said on their website that they are officially putting a halt to the “first land” program which gives newbies and newcomers to the game land at a discounted almost “free” cost.

“…these cheap L$1 per meter parcels were not benefiting those people as intended. Because of the low price, they were being immediately sold..” said Jack Linden.

This decision caused the already bubbling real estate market to accelerate at a break-neck pace making land purchase almost as unattainable as in the real world.

A new second life group: “First Land Free” is attempting to help players of the Second Life game locate land at a discounted cost or land that is donated by groups or other players.

This is a bubble that is sure to burst and will only serve to turn away new and poorer players to the game who are frustrated at the inability to purchase land.
